Balloon Card Topper

This is a bright fun card topper that is ideal for use on party invites or birthday cards. A green colour scheme has been used here to co-ordinate with the green balloon used but obviously you can make this topper in all different colours, simply alter the paper, card, ribbon bow and brad colours to match in/co-ordinate with the balloon colour that you use.

Green Balloon Card Topper

What you will need to make this topper.

  1. Woodware super duper square craft punch
  2. Mid green mulberry tissue paper
  3. Green card or green handmade mulberry paper (these are examples any green card/paper can be used)
  4. Green die-cut balloon shape
  5. Pastel yellow brads from – Woodware Mini Round Brads – Pastel
  6. Green ribbon bow
  7. Craft glue, Sticky foam pads & Double sided sticky tape
  8. Craft knife & cutting mat

How to make:

Use a cotton wool bud or your finger tip to draw a square on the mid green mulberry tissue paper with water. Carefully tear along the wet lines to create a fluffy edged square. Allow the square to dry before use. The mulberry tissue square should measure approximately 90mm once torn out.

Next punch a square out of the green card/paper using the super duper square craft punch. Apply a strip of double sided sticky tape on the back of all four edges of the punched square. Twist the mid green mulberry tissue paper square round so it looks like a diamond and then stick the punched square on top of it, also like a diamond.

Make a small hole in the top corner and the two side corners of the card/paper square (now diamond) pushing through both the top layer and mulberry tissue paper layer behind it. Push a pastel yellow mini round brad through each of the three holes and bend the prongs back.

Attach some sticky foam pads to the back of the balloon and stick it to the centre of the diamond. Trim the wire stem of the balloon so it is short and does not overlap the bottom of the top diamond layer.

Finally use craft glue to attach a green ribbon bow over the wire stem of the balloon.

You can add a silver peel off sticker number or even write a number using a silver metallic marker or stickles glitter glue onto the balloon to denote a childs age.

Once you have made your topper, simply attach it to the top section of a card blank and use a peel off sticker sentiment or greetings banner on the bottom of the card for whichever occasion you wish.
